Species identification of fishery products in Germany


German Labelfish partners Kristina Kappel and Ute Schrรถder from the Max-Rubner Institut have written a paper outlining the results obtained from the 245 fish products (tuna, common sole and cod) sampled between 2013 and 2014 as part of the Labelfish project. They discovered that 29 of the samples (11.8%) were mislabelled and had been substituted by other species. The highest adulteration rate was found in common sole dishes served in restaurants.
